Jericoacoara January 2015

Jericoacoara

Sweet and short Jericoacoara is called Jeri. I went there for Kite Surfing and any activities I can do there. To go there I took the services of Fredcar. They bring you with a rolling freezer to Jijoco and from there with this rolling shaker to Jeri.

Shaken and frozen I arrived the place. It is a very sweet place with no pavement at all. There are only three main sand streets in the village. All the stray and free donkeys, horses, cows, dogs and cats make the place even sweeter.

I booked some nights in a Hostel called America Do Sul and it was a very good choice. The staff is very friendly and helps you out with every problem. The “public” zone is big so you can always choose if you want a hammock for you so you won’t be disturbed or you choose to make some new friends in the kitchen.

You can see a nice sunset at the Duna Do Pôr Do Sol, where everybody goes to watch.

There you can also easily make new friends for going either to a Samba or Forro party. And if you are sick of dancing just attend the beach party at several Caipirinha stands. My ability to make a proper panoramic photo is pretty bad after a Caipirinha…

For Kite Surfing I went to Andrea Kite Surf School Jeri. Andrea has a good way of observing your faults and can help you really to improve your kite skills in very short time. At the Beach in the back of the Duna do Sul it’s very nice for Kite surfing because there is a lot of space and shallow water in the laguna to train for starters so you won’t always lose the board. And yes after some lessons I could surf some meters 🙂

By the way, this sport is a lot of fun and whoever says “no I am too old for that” should be over 81 because Jacques Pourbaix from Belgium started at the age of 72 and he is still kitesurfing at the age of 81.

For sure you can eat a lot of seafood at such a place. I liked it especially in connection with the nice fruits they have. One of my favorites was abacaxi com camarãopineapple with shrimps

Well, I had a great time in Jeri and I can recommend to everybody to go there for a week or two to learn either kitesurfing, SUP, the wind or normal surfing. Also if you just like to have some nice caipirinhas while watching the sunset you are at the right place in Jeri! If you have other nice experience in Jeri feel free to add it in the comment section below.

By the way, I decided to write my blog in English so more of my friends can read it.

Great! You describe Jeri as it is…beautiful! I want to return! I Will follow your triple in your blogodiary. Have fun!

  2. Can I simply say what a relief to search out someone who really is aware of what theyre talking about on the internet. You positively know the way to bring an issue to mild and make it important. More people need to read this and understand this aspect of the story. I cant imagine youre not more common since you definitely have the gift.
